The Respect in Sport for Parents is a one time program that is required to be completed for first time registrants. It is important to note that if a family has a second or subsequent child they do not need to complete the course again.

The Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders is a one time program that is required If you plan to volunteer as a coach within minor hockey.

An individual planning to volunteer as a coach for the upcoming season must also have a current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), Criminal Record Check (CRC), and Declaration (Screening Application) showing on their Hockey Canada Registry profile. Here is the link for the Screening Application: https://www.hockeynl.ca/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Hockey-NL-Screening-Application.pdf

In order to receive an RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check, volunteers must do the following:

  1. Email MMHA President Darren Coady to request a volunteer letter (to waive the fee): mmhapresident2024@gmail.com
  2. Contact the Provincial Court to request a court check: (709) 832 1450
  3. Email Krista Mitchell at the RCMP detachment: krista.mitchell@rcmp-grc.gc.ca to request the forms needed to complete the Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check. Scan and email completed forms to Krista Mitchell.

Please note, when registering for the upcoming season, should an individual not have a current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), Criminal Record Check (CRC), and Declaration (Screening Application) showing on their HCR profile, Registrars will not be able to add them to a team.
