Global Girls Game Initiative.

The Global Girls’ Game, a hockey game initiative that originated in 2015, aims to unite girls from around the world by allowing them to play on the same team on the same day.

Hockey Canada is dedicated to collaborating with all members to foster unity from coast to coast to coast in support of this event. The 2024 event seeks to amplify and empower girls who play hockey, with participation from every Member across the nation, competing on the same teams in the same game on the same day.
Marystown Minor Hockey's game will be one of eleven, taking place on February 17th, 2024, as part of the Canadian leg of the IIHF Global Girls’ Game.
Each team from each game will be split into Home Team White and Away Team Red. The scores from each game will contribute to the cumulative score for Team White, with Team Blue (Red) being forwarded to the IIHF as Canada’s numbers.
Other Canadian Communities are hosting games in various locations, including Whistler, BC; Warman, SK; Miramichi, NB; Stettler, AB, Mississauga; ON Chester, NS; Yellowknife, NT; Montreal, QC; and Cornwall, PEI.

These games include players from U11-U15 and at various levels of play, providing an opportunity to promote inclusivity and diversity while encouraging more girls to take up hockey.
