Spirit of Hockey Awards 2019 & 2020

Covid 19 has put a damper on our hockey plans since the start but our hockey family has always stuck together in these trying times. The Spirit of Hockey has been alive and strong in our community and in our association.
For the past couple of years, we had multiple nominations for our annual Spirit of Hockey Awards and although so many were worthy of the award, we had 2 recipients that stood out to us this year.

Our first recipient to receive the award was Jayelyn Oake. Jayelyn was a U20 Female player (Covid times) in her last year of minor hockey, after many years in the program. Jayelyn has played many games with many teams and earned the respect of her teammates and coaches along the way. Jayelyn has proved to be an unselfish player that loves to see her fellow teammates succeed. Jayelyn has now moved on from the association to continue her studies at Memorial University studying kinesiology. When the award was presented to Jayelyn and her words were “what a great way to end my minor hockey”, it was evident that she was a great choice for the award.

As recipients of the Spirit of Hockey Awards, both Players were presented with a certificate on behalf of the association and a $150 cheque on behalf of an anonymous donator to the association. We look forward to this award annually and can’t wait to see our future recipients. We thank our coaches and directors for helping us with the awards and extra thanks to our supporters for helping us create such an award.

Congratulations Jayelyn!!
